Kevin grew up in western Pennsylvania in a small steel town. He worked his way through college and graduated from the University of Akron (B.A. in Education and M.B.A. in Finance). He discovered financial services in 2002 and founded True Wealth Design in 2005.
He is married to Brandy with daughters Aubrey and Cameron and have two beloved Old English sheepdogs. They live in the Akron Ohio area and in Puerto Rico for part of the year.
How would you describe yourself in one sentence?
I’d say I’m optimistic, hard-working, a life-long learner, and ambitious professionally but laid-back personally.
What is something most don’t know about you?
I worked two newspaper routes as a kid and used some of that money to start a sports card business in my teens. I started my professional career as a high school Physics teacher.
What do you do in your free time?
Family-oriented fun mostly, enjoying our home, friends, community, restaurants, and exercising.
What are your wardrobe constants?
“Comfortable Chic.” Nice shorts or jeans, a well-fitted T-shirt, flip-flops, and some sort of hat. (A bald man always needs a hat for cold, rain, sun, or simply aesthetics.)
What is something interesting someone has said about you?
A few clients call me their “Money Doctor,” which they arrived at independently. That’s what I tell my two young daughters that I do.
What are you proud of?
I’m proud that throughout my life I’ve continued to grow, strive to get better, and stay grounded in my core values. My path has required grit, discipline, a bit of luck, and a lot of belief in what was possible. I’m proud of the family, business, and life I’ve helped build and of the positive impact we’ve had on our clients, team, and communities. The achiever in me will always be focused on what can be better, but I’m learning to appreciate the journey, too. And I genuinely believe the best is yet to come.
